As leader of ERDC’s Environmental Security Engineering Team, Research Engineer Victor F. Medina, PhD, PE, has been creating innovative solutions to environmental challenges for almost two decades. Dr. Medina and his team conduct research in soil and groundwater remediation, water & wastewater treatment, and consequence management. Dr. Medina has developed a number of creative, usable products during his tenure. His work addresses a wide range of complex challenges such as treating water in extreme environments, reducing the negative impacts of wastewater, removing common, yet harmful chemicals such as perchlorate from drinking water, and treating the most significant emerging contaminants faced by the Department of Defense such as polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS).
We need clean water for the military to operate effectively and I intend to supply that water.”
